Tin Soldiers tells the deeply personal story of people afflicted with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), an extremely rare medical condition that slowly turns their connective tissue to bone. The resulting documentary is a compelling tale of courage, set against the backdrop of medical science, in which these real-life “tin soldiers’ overcome their human frailty to show the spirit of resilience and survival, even within the most physically ravaged bodies. The film travels from the dusty streets of South African townships to Brazil, the United States, the United Kingdom and France, documenting the experiences of a broad spectrum of patients and their families as they travel their different paths, while sharing the common goal of prevailing and surviving.
