Peter Machen was the Director of the Durban International Film Festival from 2013 to 2016. He was the Arts Editor of the Independent on Saturday in the early 2000s and is the author of two books about his hometown of Durban. He currently heads the media cooperative The Communication Factory and lives in Berlin.
